Deeks: What makes any pairing easy for him to handle?

  • Deeks Partnerships. 510- Kensi and Guest character-Thapa, 511- Alone, 512- Nell, 513- Sam  and Guest character-Ahsaan Navid, 514-Granger, 515 -Nate Getz, 516- Guest character played by Mercedes Masohn, 517- Callen & Guest Actor, 518- Sam, 519- Sergeant-Translator-Rabee Makar

Deeks has always one Partner Kensi from the time he was introduced. That equation changed only when Kensi was away on a separate mission for the team or Deeks was needed to handle another outsider for the mission's success. Before Deeks joined NCIS OSP, Kensi was more or less the third wheel with no partner in Season 1, with her working sometime in OPS Room, sometimes partnering Nate and then working along with Fresher Dom, who did not make it to be her partner. Likewise, in Season 5, Deeks had to work along with others when Kensi was away on the Afghanistan mission.

Then if both Kensi and Deeks have worked alone, what makes me write today about Deeks. Why is that every pairing of Deeks is an attractive option for us story-wise? Let me cite the pairings in Season 5.
510- Kensi and Guest character Jamadar Thapa
511- Alone and Scallen
512- Intelligence Analyst Nell Jones
513- Scallen, Sam and Guest character Ahsaan Navid
514- Asst Director Owen Granger
515- Intelligence Analyst and Psychologist Nate Getz
516- Guest character DEA Agent Talia
517- Alone, Callen and a Guest Character ATF Agent Rick Bower
518- Alone, Sam and Scallen
519- Guest Character Sergeant Makar
520- Intelligence Analyst Nell Jones

And if I go for previous seasons, Deeks has been asked to handle or pair with characters like the Mexican Policewoman, or go undercover alone as Max Gentry to handle Monica or work with Sam in Season 2 and Season 4 end.  Questions that come to my mind are 1) Why is that every outsider character gets to work with Deeks? 2) Why is that each handling is pleasant to watch?

Ofcourse, the pleasantness is stemming from the fact that writers are taking care of each pairing with Deeks to gel wel. Then why is it being treated so? I believe that answer is The Connect Factors for the Audience as a Human Being towards Deeks or whomsoever he pairs with.  Sometimes its the Guest characters like us make a connection with Deeks for the kinship we instinctively feel or sometimes it is the contrast those characters represent and which is noticed and absorbed by Deeks. The whole experience makes it a compassionate Human experience for us against the Highly trained Agents equipped to handle any danger and save the world. Now does that mean Deeks, not being an Agent is not as brave as the Regular Agents in his Team? No. And there lies our answer as to why his bonding with other Non-NCIS Agents makes us see how is that Deeks as the outsider is still able to fit into the adventurous world of NCIS LA.  Deeks is already established as skilled in going Undercover and is a Lawyer-turned Cop. Its this mix of ability to blend with people, negotiate through a difficult situation and the need to protect those who need his protection, is what makes a right mix for him to successfully bridge an understanding with any given partner as it becomes a co-sharing experience.

So if I go by each of the pairs this season, how did I like them? Well I liked all of the pairings. Can't judge between any of those pairs.
